The process of growing older in the traditional sense can be very painful physically and emotionally. I think that aging as a cultural model is outdated and established by prior and current generations. Society has not focused on making aging more honorable and physically more bearable for people as they grow older. On the contrary, the opposite is taking place. There is more ageism, more societal rejection, and very little emphasis on creating products and business models to service this vast segment of the global population. I believe that is why younger people are so afraid of growing old because they can sense how painful life is going to be for them as they age. We need to create a cultural shift to this obsolete paradigm. By the way, this change will be equally beneficial to the younger generations- They need to understand that they will enjoy their youth a lot more if they know that when they get older they will be treated with great respect and honor. The young need to feel that society will make sure that they will be given a great quality of life for those moving into the final phase of their lives on earth. It is time to be warriors to make sure these changes become a reality. The current treatment of people of 55 plus is really terrible and inhumane.I will never permit anybody to make me irrelevant or undervalue me because of my age. It is totally unacceptable. The fight is now starting.
